Generally, I love doing laundry. I find freshly cleaned linens and an empty hamper delightfully rewarding. These days though, considering we aren’t going many places, it amazes me how often I’ve been doing laundry. To simplify the process, there are five laundry room items I swear by.
Wash Bags – My basic and generic mesh washing bags from The Laundress are perfect for delicate items or even children’s small items such as socks and headbands. Never lose a sock to the dryer again!
Drying Rack – Instead of draping clothes on our kitchen table or on chairs, a handy drying rack works well for more delicate clothing.
Hamper – Simplify your process by keeping a hamper in the laundry room for dirty dish towels and other items that may not make their way upstairs first. Hampers in the laundry room also come in very handy when unpacking from a trip – avoid dirty clothes strewn across the floor.
Dryer Balls – After a bit of reading, I reduced my use of dryer sheets and started using wool dryer balls. They reduce drying time up to 25%, soften and reduce wrinkles in clothes. Add a few drops of essential oil on a dryer ball at the end of your dryer cycle and your clothes will smell divine! These wool dryer balls from Coyuchi are filled with climate beneficial wool sourced from California, making them a pure and natural alternative to dryer sheets. Next, I plan on trying their Eucalan delicate wash in eucalyptus scent.
Glass Canisters – I keep essential items such as wool dryer balls and microfiber towels in these handy canisters. The clear canisters keep items together and quickly identifiable.
