Homemade Play Dough

Wes and I have been very busy in the kitchen as of late. I try to get her involved in as much of the activity process, when set up is involved asking her to help as often as appropriate (and safe!). One of our recent DIY projects has been homemade play dough. This all natural, non-toxic recipe makes it a great sensory activity that is perfectly safe for your curious toddler.

Ingredients

1 cup flour
1 cup water
Food coloring
*add a drop of essential oils for scented version such as Eucalyptus, Lavender, Orange (optional)
1/2 cup salt
3 tbsp cream of tartar
1 tbsp oil

Instructions

In a pot on the stove top add water, food coloring and flour

Stir in salt, cream of tartar and oil

Heat the mixture, stirring constantly

You will notice the ingredients thicken

Remove from heat and knead dough until smooth

*store in an airtight container
